Resta ainda um pouco do velho humor. Na estréia de Spamalot, a adaptação para a Broadway de "Monty Python e o cálice sagrado", os cinco sobreviventes do grupo assistiram ao musical e depois subiram ao palco sob os aplausos do público. Junto com eles foi uma urna funerária. Representava Graham Chapman, o único python já morto.
A brincadeira remete a outra, feita no velório de Chapman, em 1990. No meio da cerimônia fúnebre, John Cleese foi até a beira do caixão, tomou a palavra e para surpresa geral iniciou uma versão da piada do papagaio morto.
"Graham Chapman, co-author of the 'Parrot Sketch,' is no more. He has ceased to be, bereft of life, he rests in peace, he has kicked the bucket, hopped the twig, bit the dust, snuffed it, breathed his last, and gone to meet the Great Head of Light Entertainment in the sky".
No final, arrematou: "He is an ex-Chapman".
